Challenged by always needing to explore things in great detail, and therefore feeling you never quite satisfy your own inquisitiveness. The energy of this gate is driven by a desire to realise creative dreams and fantasies. Thirst for adventure, and an impulse or pressure to try new ways of doing things, or a novel experience. The energy for adventure and sensing a need for change; intuitively understanding the correct path to take.

A Channel becomes active when the two Gates at its ends are active, and the Centres connected by this Channel become Defined. This means that energy begins to circulate between them, just like it happens in a closed electrical circuit. The combination of Channels and how they interlink Centers defines your Type in Human Design. They also influence your strengths, challenges, and life purpose. So much energy in this channel is about selling good ideas. It is also the energy for truth and integrity, understanding the lessons from the past and transmitting these lessons. Many filmmakers, historians, and journalists carry this energy. The energy for big business dreams and ambitions is far away from the Throat Center, so this is an energy that has to wait for others to see and recognize it. If you have this energy in your chart, you have really big ideas, but you have to wait for those ideas to be seen and understood by others. The fulfilment of your dreams can and will happen if you let the Universe handle the details.

Gates are the specific points within a Center that connect to a corresponding Gate in another Center. Each Gate carries a specific energy and purpose, which is activated when connected to another Gate via a channel. This channel gives us the energy for listening and then guiding if asked. This is the energy of the witness and the direction-giver. It’s a nice energy to have if you are a coach or a therapist. Channel 13/33 is the true storyteller, the one who shares the tale of the journey and uses the lessons gained to give direction.

If the Center may be called an energy node, then the Gate will then be the “entry” point – a place through which the energy flowing through the Channels enters and leaves a particular Center. Each of the Gates has its own number and its own unique quality, depending on the Center in which they are located. The name of the Channel and what its nature will be expressed in depends on the Gate with which it is formed.

Through responding, people with this energy are able to behave with their power correctly or are behaving in a way that is powerfully correct. This is a deeply individual channel, and when you are in its presence, you will be drawn into behaving correctly as long as you are responding. Understanding the Channel requires considering the broader context of a person’s Human Design chart, including their Type. Each Type interacts with the energy of this channel in different ways. For example, a Manifestor with the Channel defined might express their feelings assertively and initiate actions based on their emotional processes. In contrast, a Projector might use their emotional wisdom to guide others, while a Generator could use their emotional energy to respond to life’s challenges and opportunities.

The format energies operate in pulses and adrenalize the energy of the Sacral. When these energies are pulsing on, they are powerful and vibrant, ready to get things done. When these energies are off, it’s hard to get things done, almost as if the adrenaline energy of the Root and the life force energy of the Sacral are unavailable. Unfortunately for people with this energy, they usually have to keep working, even when the energy is off.
